 Media Technology Associates is a small group of independent artist, craftsmen, engineers and computer geeks, who live for the challenges on the leading edge of media technology. We tend to focus on the convergent markets of Broadcast Communications and Computer Information Systems, and the emerging Digital Television environment. Our "virtual" concept evolved during the down-sizing of America in the early 1990's. It was an era when corporations expressed declining responsibility to employees who once felt they had jobs "for life". Phone conversations between technically competent -- but potentially unemployed -- friends, pointed out the importance of developing our business sense as sharply as we developed our technical skills. We found we were not alone. Academic friends shared our concern for career stability, and the same passion for our individual professional specialties. In the last year, the theory has become a practical reality ! Media Technology Associates is a symbiotic organism. It allows us to maintain our "regular" career tracks and to follow our passions to develop and protect our independent professional skills. So far, its worked well: as individuals, we pursue each new challenge in our own time, with the same skill-set we use in our day-to-day jobs; our employers gain from the varied experience and new perspectives gained from outside projects; and small businesses who couldn't afford full-time technology specialists, have the skills they need, when they need them ! |

We have the engineering skills and technical knowledge to understand the complex equipment involved in these fields; the artistic and creative language skills to illustrate and articulate the important issues to others; and the ability to use these tools to support client needs across a wide geographic area. |

 We seem to live in technospace. Its a combination of cyberspace -- the internet and all the computer and software opportunities that it implies -- and wireless communications technologies like PCS, MMDS, VSAT and satellite video. |

| As an essentially "virtual" operation, we rely primarily on electronic communications, so the first means of communications is internet email. This way we don't need a receptionist, we don't waste time on phone interruptions, and we get more work done. We read the incoming email questions; we do whatever research is required to formulate an answer; and we reply via email, providing whatever file attachments are required. You just can't do that over-the-phone ! Once we establish an initial relationship, we provide clients with telephone, fax and pager numbers for ongoing communications for specific projects.
