Scanning 2x2 Slides :
We can also scan negatives or prints !
Coliseum, Rome, 1972, full-frameTo give you some idea what the scanning quality can be from a mounted, 35mm Ektachrome slide, look at the image at the right. It is the full-frame view of a slide that I shot in Rome in September 1972, and "scanned", mounted in an ordinary plastic frame, in January 1998. The full frame is 2400x3600 pixels, the image displayed here is 240x360, or one-tenth actual size.

Now, the little image segment, also 1/10th size, is from the LEFT EDGE of the full-frame image, just about even with the foundation of the Coliseum, and the crosswalk in the highway.
For the sake of web-bandwidth, all images are 45:1 JPEG compressions of the originals

Now, not all images have detail that can benefit from such high resolution, and the scanning software can analyze an image and suggest lower resolutions than the maximum, but its nice to know that if needed, your slides can be THIS sharp.

Another consideration in hi-res scanning is storage. This full-frame image, in uncompressed .TIF format is a whopping 26 megabytes, so it is only practical to do these images if you are also going to pay to have them put on a CD for return to you.
